Joe Camilleri
Joe Camilleri was one of the best defenders of his era. Born two days before Christmas 0f 1966 at Kalkara, he had his first taste of League football with Vittoriosa Stars in 1980-81.
The following season he went on loan to Valletta. The Citizens soon discovered his potential and took steps to make his stay permanent.
A Malta international player, he was a principal cog in the City team which took Malta by storm in the late 1990s.
Camilleri could play easily at the back four and in midfield, ghosting his way from nowhere to open yet another attack in the well-oiled City machine.
