Euro Cup – Valletta 1 Birkirkara 1

Valletta and Birkirkara opened their commitments in the Euro Cup Friendly Tournament with a one-all draw this evening.

Abdelkarim Nafti put Valletta ahead after 15 minutes, stroking the ball home from close in after Adrian Murcia Sanchez, Birkirkara’s Spanish goalkeeper, had kept out Ian Zammit’s effort.

Birkirkara struggled for most of the first half but equalised two minutes past the hour when Nigerian debutant Lucky Omeruo crossed for Ryan Camenzuli who prodded home from close in.

Ryan Camilleri and Maltese-Australian winger Adrian Zahra made their debut for Valletta while Birkirkara had three foreign trialists in their squad, goalkeeper Sanchexz, Omeruo and Rafael Ledesma who came on in the second half.
